Smoke ventilation is one of the most important life-safety systems within any building — yet it is often overlooked until it is needed most.
 

-In the event of a fire, properly designed, installed and maintained smoke ventilation systems play a vital role in keeping escape routes clear, improving visibility and helping occupants evacuate safely. Every second can make a difference.Across South Africa, however, standards of design, installation and maintenance can vary significantly. Until now, there has been no unified industry body dedicated to bringing professionals together around a consistent benchmark for quality, safety and best practice.
 

Introducing the Smoke Ventilation Installers Association

The Smoke Ventilation Installers Association (SVIA) has been established to change this.
 

SVIA is a newly formed non-profit industry association bringing together contractors, installers, manufacturers, suppliers and other professionals involved in smoke ventilation. Our shared goal is simple: to promote higher standards, professional best practice and greater awareness of the critical role smoke ventilation plays in building safety.
 

By working together, we aim to strengthen the industry, encourage accountability and help establish a recognised benchmark for quality across South Africa.
